13. How do you treat pet stains and odor?

1. Although there are many different variables to carpet appearance, feel, and look, here are just a few.

* Dust mites - These can produce 200 times their own waste and can lay 300 eggs in their life. Each mite produces 40 to 100 feces pellets per day. The droppings are then coated in an enzymatic, slimy substance, which after drying becomes mixed with other household dirt.

* Spots - If not removed quickly after they occur, these can become permanent.

* Pollen/Allergies - When pollen enters your home or office, it can become embedded in your carpet and can torture allergy sufferers.

* Worn or soiled traffic areas - When dirt and debris are left in the carpet, they will create a grinding process that will cause a breakdown in carpet appearance and resilience, thus affecting the life of your investment.

* Animal Dander - Carpets hold animal dander that can cause appearance problems as well as allergy problems Let unattended, dander combines with soil and other issues of every day wear to shorten the life of the carpet.

2. Let me begin by explaining the difference between a spot and a stain. A spot is a foreign material that is on or around the carpet fiber and can be removed by standard carpet cleaning methods. A stain is a foreign material that has penetrated the carpet fiber and has changed or damaged the carpet fiber. With this said most spots and stains can be removed, but some stains can be very difficult or impossible to remove. This can be determined at the pre-inspection stage.

3. Absolutely, our cleaning process leaves your carpet fresh, clean, residue free, and soft to the touch.

4. Our truck mounted units use top-of-the-line bio-degradable cleaning products. Our cleaning products are consistent with industry standards and manufacturer recommendations. Furthermore, our products are OSHA compliant.

5. Typically, a standard carpet cleaning can take 1 1/2 to 3 hours to complete a standard residential home depending on size of home.

6. Your carpets should be dry in 2 to 8 hours depending on different variables. However, you will be able to walk on your carpet immediately after cleaning as long as you have on a clean pair of socks or wear the booties provided by us. In most cases we leave your carpet 90% dry.

8. We understand that you have a busy schedule and we do not require anyone to be home during our cleaning. Furthermore, our employees go through a rigorous background and criminal investigation prior to employment so you can feel comfortable with our technicians.

9. Absolutely, however once you weigh the opportunity costs of do-it-yourself carpet cleaning methods, you may find that professional carpet cleaning is not as expensive as you may think. Renting or buying a do-it-yourself carpet cleaner could very well cost as much as hiring a professional. Keep in mind your time is worth something to you as well.

10. Some carpet cleaners recommend doing this every 6 to 12 months, but here at Indiana ProClean we think that this can vary widely depending on carpet use. If your family removes their shoes before entering your home or if you have relatively low foot traffic then you can go longer in between carpet cleaning. If you have indoor pets or have allergy problems you may want to clean on a bi-annual basis or in between seasons that affect you the most. Other than that, we think that if your happy with your carpet appearance than you could wait, but keep in mind a soiled carpet could cause carpet wear.

11. Once we provide you with a quote and you accept we will honor that price.

12. This is a common misconception. However, some carpet cleaners do not use the rinsing action thereby causing the detergent to become sticky which can cause rapid re-soiling. Indiana ProClean uses a rinsing agent to remove our cleaning product thus providing you with cleaner carpets that will last longer.

13. Typical house pets do not sweat, therefore their urine contains alkaline salts which can absorb moisture out of the air. In turn, pet urine really never dries and will become a feeding ground for bacteria and odor. Minor and average conditions can be treated with a combination of germicidal and enzyme surface treatments.
